Remember how I was working on this? Well, here's the finished product (I know it's not the clearest picture). Tonight it was reported that the zine itself is finished! That means that my story submission, the paintings, comics and poems of other contributers etc are all wrapped up in one, glossy, pretty little book. So, in a few moments...I will get to see the first issue of Vox Populi.
The "You Have a Choice" that AVAAZ.com sponsored from K-OS, Ed from Barenaked Ladies, Ben Kowalewicz of Billy Talent, Adam Gontier (Three Days Grace), Sarah Harmer, Hawksley Workman, Jason Collett (Broken Social Scene), Darren Dumas (The Salads) and the Arts Offstage Choir. Written and produced by Ian Lefeuvre (The Hundreds and Thousands) and K-OS.
To be frank, I don't really like this song...the lyrics are decent but it's too folky kumbayaish for me. But perhaps it will strike a chord with you. In any event, it has an important message that these elections (both this one and the US one) will have an effect on the environment, by either accelerating or reversing the destruction our politicians have allowed to happen. If you're Canadian, it's also fun to hear and guess which familiar voice is whose.
I'm working on a background for a new zine that will be coming out soon. It's called "Vox Populi". I didn't name it. So don't ask me. Anyway, it was quite nice to get out of a rainy, moody night and spend some time colouring and doing some sketches with my friend. Here's one that was kinda spontaneous. And this is the glossy street where I live. It looks sultry in the synthetic, traffic light... A blind contour!
Compulsive serioso and occasional humourist. Aspiring musician, believer, satirist, pantheist and friend. Someone who's interested in writing for its social function and because it's a damn good way to vent. Combining the elements of investigation, computer art, social criticism and analysis, I want to create a monster that walks and talks on its own, vulnerable to the same "slings and arrows" of us all.
